I’ve been waiting months and months for this glorious wedding. I met Korbi and Tom early last year, and at our first meeting, I knew we were meant to work together. They had such a warm and welcoming vibe, and were some of the coolest people I’ve ever met. This was only further confirmed during their engagement session, which was COMPLETELY out of this world!!!! I knew their wedding would blow my and their guests expectations out of the water.
Their day started at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort: a beautiful desert hotel, just minutes away from their set up. Shuttles brought all of their guests on a stunning 20 minute drive out to the middle of the desert, away from any distraction, noise, and civilization. Upon arriving, guests were greeted with an outrageously gorgeous view of the Superstition Mountains and surrounding, cacti-filled desert. It was peaceful and beautiful: the perfect setting for Korbi and Tom’s nuptials.
Their ceremony was performed by a close friend, whom gave the most heartfelt and emotional introduction I have ever heard. K + T’s ceremony was entirely unique to them, complete with a game of rock, paper, scissors to see who would say their vows first, a “surprise ring bearer” who found the rings taped under their seat (Oprah style), and a vow of support from all of the guests to love and cherish this new marriage. It was exciting, it was incredibly emotional, and it was perfectly fit for these two lovers.
The night continued with a delicious cocktail hour of margaritas and charcuterie boards. Pick & Holler, an old time string band, set the tone of the evening with fun and folky music with ANOTHER little surprise for the guests. The bride and groom had written and prepared a song that they played with the band for all of their guests to experience. Not a word was spoken as each and every one of Korbi and Tom’s friends and family listened to the sweet, soft song. It was one of the most genuinely beautiful moments I have ever witnessed in my years of being a wedding photographer!
Finally, the reception kicked off with a dinner bell and the ever-talented Cloth and Flame served a exquisite dining experience to 120+ guests on a 100+ foot long table. Surrounded by the pitch-black desert sky, candle-lit tables and strangers who quickly became friends, the vibe was tangible. Everyone was in the moment, fully present, and enjoying every second of this glorious evening.
I feel so honored to have been able to be a part of this special day for Tom & Korbi. The photos say it all! 🙂 Congrats again to you both! <3
